Multiplicand, Multiplier And Product Relation:

In  a multiplication problem:

1. The number to be multiplied is known as the multiplicand.

2. The number by which the multiplicand is multiplied is called the multiplier.

3. The answer we get is called the product.

For example

75 X 12 = 900

Here

1. 75 is the number to be multiplied is known as the multiplicand.

2. 12 is the number by which the multiplicand is multiplied is called the multiplier.

3. 900 is the answer we get is called the product.

Illustration 1:  Identify the multiplier in the statement:

35 X 20 = 700

A. 35

B. 20

C. 700

D. None of these

Answer: B

Illustration 2:  Identify the product in the statement:

85 X 20 = 1700

A. 85

B. 20

C. 1700
